Brought out in response to the 1979 oil crisis, the E was introduced in 1983 and soon outsold the more powerful and less expensive fuel-injected “i” models. Heralded as the “sports car for those who do not want a sports car”, the 325Es were available as two and four-door sedans. However, even highly popular cars will eventually run their course. BMW discontinued its E series in 1988, having produced more than 189,287 vehicles.
Although out of production for 30 years, the 325Es are still highly sought after.
