The E-Class featured interior upgrades that underscored passenger comfort and convenience, such as split 50.50 front bench seating, and standard air conditioning. The ruse did not work however, and New Yorker sales were twice those of the E-Class. Considered one of Lee Iacocca’s failures, remaining E-class vehicles were rebadged as Plymouth Caravelles for the 1985 model year.
