Phased out in 1992 but rebooted a decade later, Infiniti’s M series speaks to a specific group of drivers. The M45, reintroduced in 2002, outpaced its competitors with a powerful V-8 which at the time was usually reserved for the largest sedans. In fact, the M45’s engine was shared with Infiniti’s flagship, the larger Q45. In other respects the M45 was a junior version of the Q45. Its instrumentation and suspension systems were also ‘borrowed’ from the flagship model. In 2006 the M45 offered a model x equipped with all-wheel drive. In short, the M45 has everything the Q45 has except size and price. This resonated well with consumers and signalled the end of the Q45 which was discontinued in 2006. The M45 then took top billing for the Infiniti lineup.
