The Lincoln LT had been a luxury pickup truck that had been sold from 2005 through 2008. Based on the Ford F-150, the LT was intended as an upscale version of the F-150, and was powered by the same 330-cubic-inch, 300-hp Triton V8 engine. However, this model segment has some stiff competition, and annual sales targets of 13,000 vehicles were never met. The LT proved to be no match for Cadillac’s Escalade EXT, its closest competitor, and in 2008, the LT became another GM downsizing statistic. Retirement did not last long, as dealers found that sales for and the LT had increased markedly to become Lincoln’s best-selling model in the division. As a result of these findings, the LT was resurrected in 2010, only to be discontinued in 2014, when sales for the LT were found to be diverting buyers for the more profitable Ford F-150.
As might be expected for a model rated “among the best” by the prestigious J. D Power Initial Quality consortium all three years it was first manufactured. This is great news if you happen to have one, handed down as a family heirloom, and are determined to keep it on the road.
