The last third generation GTO rolled off the assembly line in 1974, by then a gas-sipping shadow of its former self.
Legends die hard, however. In 2004, GM resurrected the GTO for two model years, but the fourth generation model bore no resemblance to its mighty forebearers and sales were tepid.
